Mission 2 · Public addresses and private keys

Keep your keys locked in your mind

CitiZen Two, Base the Cypher-Nomad

The Aithority can freeze a bank account with one instruction. Your job is to hold an identity it has no power over.

The briefing

The reading · One half you hand out. One half you never move.

Listen up, because this one is short and people still get wrecked by it.

You have two halves. A public address and a private key. Learn the difference now and you will never lose anything.

Your public address is a long string starting 0x. Hand that out freely. Put the address on a poster. Read the address aloud in a crowded room. Nobody can do you harm with your address. People can only send you things, and look up what you have already received.

Think of a letterbox bolted to your front wall. Anyone may post to the box. Nobody may open the box.

Your private key is the key to the box. One string, and whoever holds the string owns everything inside. No helpdesk. No reset. No appeal. A key is not a password, because a password can be changed when stolen. A stolen key is simply gone, and so is whatever the key protected.

So here is the whole lesson. Share the address. Never move the key.

Your mission today is the easy half. Find your own public address and copy it.

Do not go hunting for your private key. GetSmart holds yours behind a full identity check with Coinbase, and you will not need the key for a single mission in this course. Knowing why you do not need the key is the actual win here.

Now, why does the Awakener send you to me second?

Because a name on its own floats. Daisy learned this early. A Call-Sign proves you exist outside the count, fine, but a Free CitiZen also needs somewhere to hold what they earn. Somewhere nobody can freeze.

The Aithority can empty an ordinary bank account with one instruction. No court. No warning. A frozen account is the oldest trick they own, and the trick works because a bank keeps your money on their list, inside their building, under their rules.

An address on a public ledger works the other way. Your badges and your tokens sit against your address. No committee may vote them away. No clerk may suspend them on a Friday afternoon. The record is public, permanent, and belongs to nobody.

A warning before you go, and take this seriously because scammers live on exactly this line.

Nobody from GetSmart Token will ever ask for your private key. Nobody from any real service will. Any message asking you to "verify your wallet" by pasting a key or a seed phrase is a theft in progress. Close the tab. Tell an adult you trust.

Your address is armour. Your key is the skin underneath. Show the armour. Never show the skin.

Copy your address. Lock the lesson in. Next mission you learn to make a machine answer you properly, and the Prompt Whisperer has no patience for sloppy work.

⚠ Double Agent Warning — nobody legitimate asks

Your public address is safe to share. Your private key and your recovery phrase are not, and there is one rule that never changes: nobody legitimate ever asks for them.

Not support. Not an exchange. Not someone claiming to be from the Resistance. Not us. A real service only ever needs your public address — which is exactly all this mission asks you for.

Attackers are patient and they are polite. They will help you with a genuine problem for twenty minutes before they ask. The politeness is the technique.

Notice that your key is deliberately hard to reach. That friction is not the system being awkward. It is the system protecting you.
